Debbie Morrin-Nordlund Memorial Scholarship

Brown Hollow Trail
Debbie at Check-in for the 2007 MMT

The Virginia Happy Trails Running Club will honor long time volunteer Debbie Morrin-Nordlund by naming the Massanutten Mt Trails 100 mile run (MMT) entry fee scholarship after her. Hence forth, the club will fund the "Debbie Morrin-Nordlund Memorial Scholarship" for up to two needy runners at the MMT run each May.

The club has long funded "scholarships" that pay the entry fee for needy runners. The scholarships are based on "need not speed." To preserve confidentiality, the award of a scholarship is within the prerogative of the race director. In the future, the race director will consider the applicant's history of volunteering at MMT or similar running events.

Debbie was an integral part of MMT. We will miss her.

The club will also make a donation in Debbie's name to the Marine Estuarine Environmental Sciences (MEES) Graduate Program at the University of Maryland (where Debbie worked).

Friends of Debbie are invited to join the club in honoring her in this way. To donate, send a check payable to "UMCPF" to:
