Be sure to read the race information before entering. The link to the next step in the process is at the bottom of this page.
You may apply to run the 2008 Women's Half Marathon until August 31. The field is limited to 240 entrants.
While the VHTRC has always given entry fee refunds in its more expensive events, this is the first year that we will give refunds for Womens Half Marathon entry. We are happy to give refunds. We have no desire to profit from those who entrants cannot run. Giving those refunds, however, does complicate the entry/waiting list process a bit.
Important Note: We now have a large waiting list. Since this is the first year for a waiting list at the WHM, we do not know how many people will get off of it. Accordingly, we don't want to continue taking people's money, and we have disabled the ability to pay online. You may still join the waiting list. You must, however, do so by taking the option to mail in a check. We may have missed removing all mentions of the PayPal/online option. At the end of the process, however, you will only be able to mail in a check. If the waiting list gets short again, we may turn the online payment back on.
As noted above, there are two ways you can pay at this point -- online or with a check. Online payment is quicker, easier, and will put you ahead of those who use the mail. You will, however, have to pay now. If you don't get in the race, your refund could come after you have to pay your monthly credit card bill.
If you pay by check, we will only cash your check if you get in the field. The disadvantages are that you lose priority to other applicants while your check is in the mail, and you need a 42 cent stamp.
It's your choice. You make that choice at the end of the process.
We will again have a mother-daughter team competition. Each mother and daughter must apply separately and note her desire to be on a team.
We will use all of the information you send us to manage this event. If you don't want us to record this information, please don't enter the race. We will list the name, city, state, and age of all entrants on this Web site. We will also list any entry priority status of a runner. We will publicize the results. We will not disclose your home address, telephone number, or e-mail address to anyone other than race officials. We will transfer this information to PayPal to save you from having to enter it twice. We will not have access to the credit card or other financial information you enter on PayPal. Consult PayPal's privacy statement for information about the disclosure of this data. We will take many photographs at the event. Your picture will very likely appear on this Web site.
