Brad Hinton Sets Course Record in Fire on the Mountain Win

Brad Hinton won the Fire on the Mountain 50km in the Green Ridge State Forest, Maryland, on October 28.  In the process, Brad set the course record.  Report and results

Halloweeny 2012

A grand time was had by all at the 2012 Halloweeny.  I heard that Lance was the runaway winner - of course he would be.  Thanks to Sharon, Ted and all the volunteers!

Stricklett third overall female at WVMTR Trilogy; Petrie wins 50 miler outright

Rhonda Stricklett was the third overall female in the West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners Trilogy, a three-day stage race that uses some of the most beautiful trails the Mountain State has to offer. The Trilogy starts with a 50k on Friday, followed by a 50 miler Saturday and half marathon on Sunday. Ragan Petrie chicked all the men to win the 50 outright. VHTRC members Matt Smythe and Marlin Yoder also finished the Trilogy. Results

Grindstone 100 Mile Endurance Run

Blues Cruise 50km

Sean Andrish was second overall and Brian Schmidt was third (and first masters) at the Blues Cruise 50km near Reading, Pennsylvania. Sean reports that, "It was almost all trail, but it was smooth, runnable trail with very few significant hills."  Results are not on line yet. Event Web site

Gorman and Stegemiller lead VHTRC finishers at Grindstone 100

In near perfect weather, Neal Gorman and Megan Stegemiller finished as second overall male and female at the Grindstone 100 in Swoope, VA on Saturday. Neal was in a tight race for 40 miles with Karl Meltzer before Karl pulled away for a course record time of 17:13 (Neal's 17:46 was also under the previous CR). Jenny Nichols held off strong running from Megan to win her first ultra in 27:45. Megan was not far back in 28:26 while Zsuzsanna Carlson was third woman in 29:46. Other highlights included Mike Campbell winning the Super Masters (60+) division in 28:24 and Jim Ashworth winning the Grand Masters (50+) in 27:20. Many other VHTRC members were at the race crewing, pacing, and socializing. Grindstone results
