A big thanks goes out to all of the volunteers for their participation in the Potomac Heritage 50K on November 4th, 2012.  In particular, the aid station captains, Amy Platt, Eric McGlinchey, Vicki Kendall, and Jaret Seiberg, and all of the aid station volunteers who helped to make this run possible.  Also, thanks to the core WUS folks, Tom Corris, Betsy Nickle, Joe Schramka, and Doug Sullivan for the pre-run marking earlier in the week.

Stone Mill and JFK

The Saturday before Thanksgiving brings two area 50 mile runs. The Stone Mill 50 had many VHTRC participants, and is led by member Doug Sullivan.  The JFK 50 is a bit older, but had fewer VHTRC participants. Results:  Stone Mill | JFK

Neal Gorman wins Pinhoti 100

While many VHTRC members were racing at Masochists or enjoying the shenanigans and trail miles at Potomac Heritage 50K last weekend, Neal was regaining his winning ways by capturing the Pinhoti 100 in Alabama. He gives a detailed recap of Pinhoti, and of chasing Karl Meltzer at Grindstone 100, in a report on his blog here.

Masochists

The 30th Mountain Masochist 50 mile run was held on November 3. The course featured a new start that added more singletrack and a climb up Mt. Pleasant off the Loop, and 4-8 inches of snow in the last 22 miles. As a result of the snow, the final cut-off time was extended 30 minutes. There were several VHTRC members in the event as well as many runners from the old days of this traditional run.  Results
