Amy Sproston third female at Western States

In temperatures that reached triple digits along the course, Oregonian and VHTRC member Amy Sproston finished atop the Western States women's podium for a third place finish in 19:25. Mike Morton, who started his ultra career 19 years ago with great runs at JFK, MMT, and Bull Run, was third male in 15:45, only five minutes off his WS course record from 1997. The heat took its toll on the field, as the only other Blue Train runners who finished were John Shepherd in 27:25, Linda Gaudette in 28:42, and Tom Green in 29:52. WS live updates

Laurel Highlands

A large group of VHTRC members ran Laurel Highlands on June 8.  The relatively good weather helped many finish. Laurel Highlands is a run of the 70-mile Laurel Highlands Hiking trail in western Pennsylvania.  Laurel Highlands has a long history. It is one year younger than Old Dominion, and is really the same age given OD's "sabbatical."  Results | Event Web Page | Report by Kirstin Corris

Megan Stegemiller first female at OD100

Megan Stegemiller finished the 35th Old Dominion 100 in 23:31, good enough for  first place female and the coveted sub-24 OD buckle. Keith Knipling also broke 24 hours to earn his second buckle in two weeks after finishing MMT. The big story of the day was the famous OD heat and humidity, which returned this year after a few years of pleasant temps, and in which only 45% of the starting field of 48 finished in under 28 hours.
