There is no way to describe John DeWalt in words. He was, just DeWalt. He has left us. We all will miss him.
John was always a member of the VHTRC. He never paid on line. He would show up and pull money out of his pocket. "How much do I owe?" He did all the runs. He was tough. He was DeWalt.

Held on an unseasonably mild early August day, the Martha Moats Baker Memorial "50K" (really closer to a 34 miler) had a record-breaking field and a record number of finishers of the complete course on Saturday, August 3. 29 runners finished the 34 mile distance, out of the 46 starters. Event haberdasher David Frazier bested a strong field with his time of 5:18. The first woman to finish was Amy Sproston (in for the race from Oregon) in 6:15.
