Opening for Race Director for Women’s Half Marathon
The VHTRC is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Race Director (RD) of the Women’s Half Marathon (WHM). The WHM is a unique showcase event with a rich history and unique traditions. The selected candidate will preserve the character and special traditions of this event, and should be available to assume the role as RD immediately in order to prepare for the 2012 WHM, which will be held on September 8, 2012. A statement of duties, qualifications, and relevant experience for the RD position can be found below.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Obtaining permits
- Managing volunteers
- Managing race equipment
- Obtaining race premiums
- Interfacing with sponsors
- Organizing aid stations
- Communicating with race participants
- Addressing course issues
- Working with VHTRC web master and VHTRC Board on entry issues
- Coordinating with VHTRC Board to develop and abide by VHTRC event policies
- Other duties essential to managing a successful event
Qualifications
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability and desire to work cooperatively with Volunteers and VHTRC Board
- Strong interest in trail running and promoting the participation of women in trail running
Relevant Experience
- Specific experience participating in this event
- Volunteer experience related to trails and/or running
- Management/organizational experience
- Trail running experience
